Look up registration data for a domain, IPv4/IPv6 address or ASN using RDAP, the structured successor to legacy WHOIS.

About this tool

This tool queries RDAP directly against the correct regional or domain registry, discovered via the official IANA RDAP bootstrap registries — the same mechanism most modern WHOIS clients use. No API key or paid provider is required.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter a domain (example.com), an IPv4/IPv6 address (8.8.8.8), or an ASN (AS15169).
  2. Select "Look up". The tool automatically detects which type of query you've entered.
Redacted data is not an error

Registries commonly redact personal registrant details to comply with data protection law. Where a field is shown as "Not disclosed", this reflects the registry's published response, not a fault in this tool.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?
WHOIS is an older, plain-text protocol with inconsistent formatting between registries. RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is its structured, machine-readable, standardised successor — this tool queries RDAP directly, falling back gracefully when a field is genuinely not published.
Why don't I see the registrant's name and address?
Most registries now redact personal registrant contact details from public RDAP responses by default, in line with data protection law (this is often called "WHOIS privacy" or redaction). This is normal and does not indicate an error — it is shown as "Not disclosed".
Can I look up an ASN?
Yes — enter it as AS15169 or just 15169. The result shows the registered name, allocation holder and status for that autonomous system number.
