Privacy notice

We don't require an account, don't store a history of your lookups, don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and don't sell data. This page explains exactly what does happen to the data you enter and the connection information Cloudflare sees.
What this site does with your data
IPTools UK provides IP address, DNS, domain and networking lookup tools. To do this, some data necessarily passes through our systems and, in places, external services we rely on:
- Your public IP address is read from Cloudflare's trusted connection metadata to show it back to you on the homepage, and is not written to a database or log file by us.
- Lookup input you type (a domain, IP address, URL, or ASN) is sent to the relevant public service needed to answer your query — for example, a DNS resolver or a registry's RDAP server — and is not retained by us afterwards.
- We do not build a history of past lookups, and there is no user account system to link queries to a person.
Services this site relies on
Depending on which tool you use, your query may be sent to:
- Cloudflare — our hosting provider (Cloudflare Workers). Cloudflare necessarily sees every request to this site, including your IP address, as part of operating the service. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 DNS-over-HTTPS resolver — used for the DNS lookup, reverse DNS, email DNS check and IP lookup tools.
- Regional internet registries (RIRs) such as ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, LACNIC and AFRINIC, and domain registries — queried via RDAP for the WHOIS/RDAP and IP lookup tools, discovered through IANA's public RDAP bootstrap files.
- Team Cymru's public IP-to-ASN DNS service — used to identify the network (ASN) announcing a given IP address, on the IP lookup tool.
- A website you ask us to check — the HTTP header checker and SSL checker tools contact the specific URL or host you provide, at your request, and nowhere else.
No paid third-party API is used by default. If this deployment has been configured with an optional IP geolocation provider or SSL-checking provider (see About), that provider will also receive the specific IP address or hostname you look up, for the sole purpose of answering that query, and its own privacy policy applies to that processing.
Server logs
Like virtually all websites, standard web server logging (via Cloudflare) may briefly record connection metadata such as IP address, request path and timestamp for operational purposes — security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults. We do not use this data for tracking, profiling or advertising, and we do not deliberately log full IP addresses in our own application-level logs beyond what is needed for short-lived, in-memory rate limiting (see below).
Rate limiting
Network-facing tools apply lightweight rate limiting keyed to your connecting IP address, to prevent abuse of tools that make outbound requests on your behalf. This check is short-lived (counters reset every 60 seconds) and is not used for any other purpose.
Cookies
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your light/dark theme preference is stored in your browser's local storage, not a cookie, and never leaves your device.
IP geolocation is approximate
Every location shown by this site — including your own — is inferred from network routing and registry data, not GPS. It typically indicates the correct country and often a general region, but should never be treated as identifying a specific person, device or street address.
Your rights
Because we do not store personal data linked to your queries, there is typically nothing held about you to access, correct or delete. If you have a specific concern about data processed while using this site, contact us via the contact page.
We do not claim formal certification or guaranteed compliance with GDPR or any other specific data protection framework — this notice describes, in good faith and in plain terms, how the site actually behaves.
